3D Box-Up Stainless Steel, EG Plate & Aluminium Signboard – Built to Withstand Heavy Use & Harsh Environments
Some signboards face more than weather. They face forklifts, trolleys, cleaning equipment, stray footballs, and accidental bumps from pedestrians. In industrial facilities, warehouses, car parks, and busy loading zones, standard aluminium or acrylic signage dents, cracks, or shatters within months. That’s why Pikoh Design offers a 3D box-up signboard combining stainless steel faces, EG plate returns, and aluminium back panels – engineered for impact resistance and structural integrity.
At Pikoh Design, based in Alor Setar, Kedah, we are a signboard manufacturer and installer serving businesses throughout the state. We specialise in heavy-duty 3D box-up signboards fabricated from robust metals. Our hybrid construction – using EG plate for its superior strength-to-cost ratio and stainless steel for impact-resistant faces – creates signage that survives where others fail.
Why This Combination Excels in Tough Environments
Let’s compare materials. Solid aluminium is soft. A heavy trolley hitting an aluminium letter will leave a permanent dent. Acrylic shatters on impact. Thin stainless steel (below 1.2mm) also dents relatively easily. Our solution uses EG plate (electro-galvanised steel) for the letter returns and internal structure. Steel has approximately three times the yield strength of aluminium – it resists bending and denting far better.
The stainless steel faces (minimum 1.5mm thickness) provide a hard, scratch-resistant surface that maintains its appearance even after minor abrasions. The aluminium back panel is the only “soft” component – but it sits flush against your wall, protected from direct impacts.
Additional Protection Features
We can further enhance durability with optional upgrades:
-
Reinforced internal bracing: EG plate ribs welded inside larger letters prevent face flexing under impact.
-
Powder-coated EG plate returns: The coating adds a sacrificial layer that hides minor scratches.
-
Flush mounting with hidden studs: Eliminates exposed brackets that could be bent or broken.
-
Rounded letter corners (custom): Removes sharp edges that are more vulnerable to catching on passing equipment.
Perfect for Heavy-Duty Environments
-
Factories & manufacturing plants: Clear, durable signage for building numbers, safety zones, and department identification.
-
Warehouses & distribution centres: Dock door numbers, aisle markers, and directional signs that withstand forklift traffic.
-
Car parks & multi-storey parking: Level indicators and entry/exit signs that resist accidental vehicle scrapes.
-
Workshops & auto repair centres: Grease-resistant, dent-resistant signage that cleans easily.
-
Loading bays & logistics hubs: Large-format building identifiers that survive daily truck manoeuvres.
-
Sports facilities & community centres: Outdoor signage that resists stray balls and equipment.
Materials & Customisation Options (Heavy-Duty Focus)
-
Faces: 304 stainless steel, minimum 1.5mm thickness (2.0mm recommended for high-impact zones).
-
Returns: EG plate, 2.0mm thickness (standard is 1.2mm – we upgrade for impact resistance).
-
Back Panel: 5052 aluminium, 3mm thickness (provides rigid mounting surface).
-
Internal Bracing: EG plate ribs welded every 30cm for letters exceeding 60cm in height.
-
Finishes: Brushed stainless (hides minor scratches better than mirror), or powder-coated EG plate returns in dark colours (scratches less visible).
-
Mounting: Heavy-duty stainless steel studs (10mm diameter) with epoxy anchors for concrete walls.
-
Letter Depths: 80mm minimum – deeper letters provide more structural surface area for bracing.
Warranty & Testing
We offer a 5-year structural warranty on EG plate returns and stainless steel faces against denting or corrosion under normal industrial use. Each sign is drop-tested (simulated impact) before leaving our workshop.
Don’t replace damaged signage every year. Invest in industrial-grade durability. Contact Pikoh Design for a heavy-duty sign consultation.
