Durable Indoor & Covered Outdoor Use
3D Non-Lighted PVC Foam Signage – Surprisingly Durable for Indoor & Protected Outdoor Applications
When business owners hear “foam,” they often think of flimsy, temporary materials that fade, crack, or warp within months. Pikoh Design’s 3D non-lighted PVC foam signage shatters that misconception. Made from high-density, UV-stabilised PVC foam board, our dimensional letters are engineered for years of reliable service in indoor environments and covered outdoor locations. They resist moisture, withstand minor impacts, and maintain their colour far longer than budget alternatives – all while remaining lightweight and affordable.
At Pikoh Design, based in Alor Setar, Kedah, we are a signboard manufacturer and installer serving businesses throughout the state. We specialise in durable 3D non-lighted PVC foam signage for schools, offices, medical clinics, covered walkways, and sheltered building entrances. If you need a sign that lasts without the weight or cost of metal, PVC foam is your answer.
What Makes Our PVC Foam Different?
Not all foam boards are equal. Our signage uses high-density PVC foam (also known as expanded PVC or Forex) with a closed-cell structure. Unlike open-cell foams that absorb moisture and harbour mould, closed-cell PVC is waterproof. It does not swell, rot, or delaminate when exposed to humidity, condensation, or occasional rain spray (as long as it is not continuously submerged).
We also use UV-stabilised formulations that resist yellowing and fading. For outdoor applications under an awning or in a covered walkway, our painted PVC foam letters maintain their colour for 3–5 years. For fully indoor use – offices, lobbies, classrooms – expect 7–10 years or more.
Impact Resistance That Protects Your Investment
PVC foam is softer than aluminium or acrylic, which means it absorbs impacts rather than cracking or shattering. A bumped shopping cart or a dropped display board may dent metal or shatter acrylic. The same impact on PVC foam leaves at most a small mark – rarely noticeable from a normal viewing distance. This makes PVC foam an excellent choice for high-traffic areas like school corridors, hospital waiting rooms, and retail aisles.

-
Factory & warehouse offices: Department signs (Accounts, HR, Dispatch) in industrial environments with dust and vibration.
Materials & Customisation Options (Durability Focus)
-
Material: High-density PVC foam – 5mm (standard), 10mm (premium for larger letters), or 15mm (maximum depth).
-
Finishes: Automotive-grade acrylic paint (UV-stabilised) in any RAL colour; or colour-matched to your brand palette.
-
Protective Coating: Optional UV-clear coat for additional fade resistance in covered outdoor locations.
-
Letter Depths: 10mm, 15mm, 20mm – deeper letters provide more substantial appearance.
-
Mounting: Mechanical studs (best for long-term security), silicone adhesive (flexible but permanent), or outdoor-grade double-sided tape (for lightweight letters).
-
Sizes: Letter heights from 10cm to 120cm – we calculate optimal thickness-to-height ratio for rigidity.
Installation & Care
Installation is quick and non-disruptive – typically within 1–2 hours for a standard set. Our team uses laser levels and pre-drilled templates to ensure perfect alignment. For outdoor applications, we seal mounting holes with outdoor silicone to prevent moisture ingress behind letters.
Cleaning requires only a soft cloth and mild soap solution. Avoid abrasive pads or solvents containing acetone, which can damage PVC foam. With basic care, your sign will look professional for years.
Don’t underestimate foam – our PVC foam signage is tougher than it looks. Contact Pikoh Design for a durability consultation and quote.
